How to Prepare

The Delta trap is an open ended trap for use with the Codling Moth pheromone lure
The lures uses a pheromone (sex scent) to attract the male moth. Once inside the trap they fly around until exhausted. The moths then land on the stick base where they are caught
When used at a density of one per tree, the lure can be an effective mass trapping device to significantly reduce populations of Codling Moth
The trap can also be used for monitoring , to asses the intensity of the pest population and identify the correct timing for any insecticide spraying
Commence trapping from the start of flowering in spring until the end of harvest in summer / autumn
The lure and sticky base needs to be replaced every 4-6 weeks
Delta traps will last 2-3 years

Directions for use

Setting up new sticky base & lure
Remove the old Sticky base and lure from the Delta trap and dispose of in the garbage
Peel open one of the new folded white sticky bases to expose the glue surface
Tear open one of the foil packs containing the rubber Lure and place the lure on top of the white stick base. Try not to touch with your fingers as this can contaminate the scent
Insert sticky base into the bottom of the Delta trap (sticky side up)

Check the traps weekly and count and record the number of moths caught. Remove all moths and any other stray insects with a scraper or twig. If more than 15 moths are caught over a two week period, then extra traps will aid control.
